3404: ELEMENTS OF STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY

Introduction to basic geological structures, evolution of microfabrics, development of faults, folds and foliations, stereographic analysis of geological structures, thrust fault geometries, balancing of geological cross-sections, and introduction to the concepts of stress and strain. Pre: 1004; (2H,3L,3C). I.
 
4404: ADVANCED STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY
Basic principles of rock behavior under applied, non-hydrostatic stress (experimental and tectonic) and analysis of the geometrical patterns produced. May be taken for graduate credit. Pre: 3404; (2H,3L,3C). I. Alternate years.
